Admirals Battle Back To Beat Kings In Home Finale

Jack Bulmer’s shorthanded goal at 15:11 of the third period, broke a 2-2 score and lifted the Amherstburg Admirals to a 3-2 victory over the Dresden Kings on Saturday night in Amherstburg.

Trailing by a goal after 40 minutes of play, Rory Sandison notched his 17th goal of the season to tie the game early in the third period. Goaltender Russell Vaughan would make a big breakaway save not long before the game-winner to set the stage for Bulmer’s heroics. The line of Sandison, Drew Booker and Brett Jones were in on all three Admirals goals, with Booker scoring his team’s first of the night in the opening frame.

The evening began with a ceremony to honour the team’s four graduating players who were playing in their final regular-season home game – Jack Bulmer, Ryan Clark, Darby Drouillard, and Jadyn Brown.

With the win, the Admirals jumped ahead of the Wheatley Sharks into fourth place in the Stobbs division and one point behind Mooretown for third. The Admirals can finish no worse than fifth, but will need a Mooretown loss to Lakeshore on Wednesday and would then need to beat the Flags in the final regular-season game this Saturday in Mooretown in order to claim third.
