Admirals Cap Off Weekend In Style With OT Win Over Mooretown

Following up on their victory over Lakeshore on Friday night, the Admirals turned in another stellar team performance in a 4-3 win over the Mooretown Flags on Sunday night in Amherstburg.

Second-period goals by Jack Bulmer and Drew Booker helped erase one-goal leads for Mooretown, until Dallas Kelly gave the Admirals their first lead at 4:48 of the third. The Flags would tie the game at the midway mark of the period to set the stage for overtime. And in the extra frame, defenseman Jake Goudreault found some room and then was afforded a clear path to the net when the Mooretown defensemen fell as he was trying to defend. Goudreault would finish the play on a nice forehand to backhand move, beating Flags goalie John Chartrand for the game-winner.

Dallas Kelly and Jack Bulmer each had a goal and an assist in the game in which the Admirals outshot Mooretown 39-22 overall, Russell Vaughan made 19 saves for second straight win and seventh total.

The win moved the Admirals within one point of Wheatley for fourth-place in the Stobbs division, and five points behind Mooretown for third. They will now prepare for back-to-back games, starting on Friday in Dresden and then returning home to host Wheatley on Saturday.
