Admirals Hit Win Column With OT Victory

The Amherstburg Admirals are in the win column for the first time in the 2024-25 PJHL season, thanks to a 5-4 overtime victory over the Walpole Island Wild on Thursday night.

Trailing 4-3 late in the third period, Brady Drouillard’s second goal of the game brought things level with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. After some frantic 3-on-3 play in overtime, it was Rory Sandison’s chance to play hero as he too tallied his second goal of the evening to give the visitors a 5-4 win.

Drouillard and Cory Leach each had three-point games for the Admirals, while rookie netminder Jay Procter made 29 saves to record his first career win in goal. Rookie forwards Leach and Sandison both recorded their first career junior goals.

The win moves the Admirals to a record of 1-2 on the young season, with two more road games ahead this weekend. On Saturday night, the team will travel to Mooretown to take on the Flags and will cap off the week with a Sunday night tilt against the Blenheim Blades.
