The Amherstburg Admirals saw their recent skid continue, in a 5-3 loss to the Blenheim Blades on Saturday night in Amherstburg.
A woeful first period saw the visiting Blades carry a 4-0 lead into the first intermission. The Admirals came out with much greater effort in the 2nd and were rewarded for it with a Dallas Kelly power-play goal late in the middle frame. They continued to press in the 3rd period and managed to close the gap in half on Jeremy Desbiens’ first of the season at 6:55 of the period. The Blades put it away however with an empty net goal in the final minute, before Max Evans scored for Amherstburg with three seconds left on the clock to result in the 5-3 Blenheim victory.
Dallas Kelly’s second period goal was the first of his junior career. It was a busy day for the rookie forward, who played in the PJHL Top Prospects Game earlier in the day in Wingham, Ontario. He scored one of his team’s two goals in the game and then was able to make it back in time for the Admirals game.
Prior to the game, a ceremony was held to honour our Veterans in lieu of Remembrance Day. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 157 were on hand, along with a Colour Guard and Bag Piper, for a moment of silence and a ceremonial faceoff.
The Admirals next action comes on Tuesday, November 7 when the team travels to Essex to take on the first-place 73’s.
