Admirals Reveal New Uniforms, Take Home Opener In OT

The Amherstburg Admirals opened their 2025-26 home schedule in style, being decked out in new uniforms and earning their first victory of the season with an overtime win over the Dresden Kings on Saturday night in Amherstburg.

In front of 230 fans at the Libro Credit Union Centre, the Admirals new acquisitions, both in terms of uniforms and players, were the story of the evening in an entertaining 5-4 contest.

Brody Gillis’ power-play goal at 4:10 of overtime helped the home team rescue the two points they nearly squandered, after the Kings erased a three-goal third period deficit to force the extra frame. Gillis, one of the newly-acquired players in the off-season and also a new assistant captain, scored the Admirals first goal of the night in the second period, and then drew the penalty that led to his own winning goal. Another new acquisition, Cale Marontate, had a strong game as well, scoring one of three shorthanded goals for his team and adding an assist.

Goaltender Landon Dimitroff made 27 stops for his first career junior hockey win, in a game where the Admirals outshot their opponents by a 43-31 margin. The 16-year-old netminder had his biggest moment in the first period, stopping Kings sniper Colton Graham on a penalty-shot.

Now with a record of 1-1 on the young season, the Admirals will next head to Walpole Island for their first meeting of their first meeting with the Wild on Thursday night.
