Admirals Win Weekend Games To Keep Pace In Battle For Third

The Amherstburg Admirals won back-to-back road games this weekend, keeping the club in the thick of the battle in a log-jammed Stobbs Division.

On Friday night in Dresden, the Admirals used a three-goal second period to get the cushion they needed in a high-scoring 6-4 victory over the Kings. Six different Admirals found the back of the net, while Russell Vaughan made 23 stops for the win in goal.

Playing a re-scheduled game on Saturday afternoon against the Walpole Island Wild, the Admirals scored three unanswered goals in the third period to break open what was a 2-2 score after 40 minutes of play. Newly-acquired defenseman Ryan Clark scored what stood to be the game-winner with his first goal as an Admiral early in the third and was followed by Freddie McCroy and Rory Sandison tallies. Dom De Zorzi earned his fourth win of the season, while the team’s leading-scorer Brett Jones registered his first career four-point game.

The four points kept the Admirals in fourth-place in the Stobbs division standings and two points back of the Wheatley Sharks after play concluded on Sunday evening.
