Flags Flatten Admirals As Home Woes Continue

The Mooretown Flags got an eary jump on goaltender Joe Costea on route to a 6-0 victory over the Admirals on Sunday night in Amherstburg.

Jace Dupuis and Dylan Dupuis scored goals two minutes apart just shy of the 10:00 mark of the first period, followed by a Flags power-play goal in the late stages of the period gave the visitors a three-goal cushion through 20 minutes.

The Admirals peppered goaltender John Chartrand in the second period to try and glose the gap, but were unabe to put one of their 24 shots in the period past him. Included in that was a lengthy two-man advantage but the home side just could not get one to go in, despite several good looks on the Mooretown goaltender.

Trailing 4-0 after two, the Admirals wilted in the third and watched as the buzzer sounded on a 6-0 Mooretown victory. The Flags returned the favour after the Admirals took the first meeting of the season between the two teams on October 7 in Mooretown.

Now having dropped three straight games, the Admirals will look to right the ship with a busy week upcoming. On Wednesday they travel to Wheatley to take on the Sharks, and then will hit the highway for a trip to Walpole Island on Thursday night. They will then close out the week by hosting the undefeated Essex 73’s on Saturday night at the Libro Centre.
