Admirals Score Road Victory In Wheatley

The Amherstburg Admirals made a return to the win column, with a thorough 4-1 victory over the Wheatley Sharks on Wednesday night in Wheatley.

After a solid but ultimately scoreless first period, the Admirals took complete control in the middle frame, getting three goals in a nine minute-span. Brady Drouillard, Jack Bulmer and Rory Sandison each beat Sharks netminder Jaxon Drysdale in a period where the Admirals out-shot the Sharks by a 16-6 margin.

Brett Jones tacked on a fourth goal early in the third period, and there wasn’t much left to do from there. The Sharks broke goaltender Russell Vaughan’s shutout with nine seconds left in regulation, but the rookie netminder still earned full marks in a 27-save performance for his first career win in goal.

Brady Drouillard, Rory Sandison and Brett Jones each had a goal and an assist in the game, while veteran blueliner Jack Bulmer scored in his second straight game.

The win moved the Admirals to a record of 3-4 and sets up a matchup with the first-place and undefeated Essex 73’s on Saturday night in Amherstburg. Game-time from the Libro Centre is set for 7:30 PM.
