On Sunday night in Amherstburg, the Amherstburg Admirals defeated the Dresden Kings by a score of 5-1 to jump ahead of the Kings into sixth-place in the PJHL’s Stobbs Division.
After dropping the first of their two-game weekend to the Mooretown Flags on Saturday night in Mooretown, the Admirals turned in a much better performance in a convincing win over Dresden. Rookie forward Ryan Dufour scored the opening goal of the game an then added his second of the night to restore his team’s three-goal cushion in the third period. Drake McGowan, Jake Archer, and Dallas Kelly scored the other Admirals goals, while Josh Courtney made 20 saves for his fourth win of the season in goal.
In the 8-2 loss to Mooretown, Dallas Kelly and Allan Djordjevic scored the Admirals goals in a game that the team definitely did not bring their A effort to.
The win over Dresden was an important one as it moved the Admirals ahead of the Kings by one point for sixth place in the division.
The Admirals next action comes this upcoming Saturday night when the Blenheim Blades make their way to the Libro Centre for the final team this regular-season. And while it is the final meeting of the regular-season, it may very not be the last time the two teams see each other, as they would play each other in the first round of the playoffs if the season ended today.
