Admirals Drop Back-To-Back To Mooretown

The Amherstburg Admirals dropped both games of a home-and-home with the Mooretown Flags this weekend.

On Saturday night in Mooretown, Caleb Lafromboise’s goal midway through the third period broke a tie and lifted the Flags to a 4-3 victory in what was a penalty-filled affair. The Admirals trailed by a goal on three separate ocassions, with Owen Papulkas, Derek Berdusco and Stefan Jacobs all scoring to bring the visitors level each time. Goaltender Joe Costea played very well in the Amherstburg net, stopping 33 shots in defeat.

Looking to return the favour the following night, the Admirals looked the better of the two teams for much of the gane’s first 40 minutes, but found themselves trailing 2-1 heading into the third period after Jace Dupuis scored the second of three Mooretown power-play goals with 22 second left in the middle frame. Mooretown struck again on the man-advantage early in the third to extend their lead to two, and then put things away on Dracen Campbell’s second of the night midway through the period.

Jake Goudreault was the only Admiral who could beat Flags netminder John Chartrand, who stopped 44 of the 45 shots he faced for the game.

The Admirals next action will come on Friday, December 15 when the team heads to Dresden for the third and final time this season.
