Admirals Drop Close Game In Mooretown

On Saturday night in Mooretown, the Amherstburg Admirals dropped their second straight one-goal game in a 5-4 loss to the Mooretown Flags.

Losing their previous game against the Flags in a shootout, the Admirals held one-goal leads on three separate occasions in Saturday’s contest, only to watch Mooretown respond quickly to tie the game all three times. With the scored knotted at 3-3 early in the third period, Flags forward Dylan Dupuis scored his second of the game at 8:16 in what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Ryan Dufour scored his first two goals of the season for the Admirals, with first-year forwards Rory Sandison and Cory Leach scoring the others. Sandison’s tally was his team-leading 10th goal of the campaign. Fellow rookie Wyatt Goudie collected three assists in the game, after playing in the PJHL Top Prospects Game alongside goalie Russell Vaughan earlier in the day.

The loss prevented the Admirals from jumping into a tie for third-place in the Stobbs division, and instead kept them in a tie for fifth with the Blenheim Blades. The team will now prepare for a busy three-game week that begins with a trip to Walpole Island to take on the Wild on Thursday night.
