Admirals Make Trade With Essex, Sign Bulmer Brothers

The Amherstburg Admirals announced the signing of defensemen Jack and Cooper Bulmer, following a trade with the Essex 73’s.

The Admirals acquired overage defenseman Jack Bulmer from the 73’s and then were quick to sign him along with brother Cooper to complete the team’s defense unit.

“These were unforseen moves that transpired quickly,” General Manager Andrew Sykes said. “Essex approached us looking to move Jack which was a no-brainer, and then adding Cooper was another move that needed no thinking on.”

The elder Bulmer, Jack played three seasons with the 73’s, including his most productive season in 2023-24 where he tallied six goals and 26 points in 38 regular-season games. Those 26 points were the fourth most among all Stobbs Division defenseman. “We are fortunate to be able to grab a player like Jack,” Sykes began. “He brings a great pedigree and tons of experience and leadership to our team and dressing room. He is one of the best all-around defensemen in the league and someone who makes our team better in all aspects of the game.”

Sykes was then quick to sign Cooper whom he says was at the top of the training camp depth chart in the first place. “Cooper was one of the guys we had narrowed down for the remaining spots on our blueline so it was an easy decision to bring him into the fold,” Sykes said of the 17-year-old. “He is an excellent skater who excels at moving the puck out of our end, and overall is someone with a lot of potential.”

The addition of the Bulmer brothers not only completes the Admirals blueline, but it also gives the team their second brother duo, along with Brady and Drouillard.

This past weekend the team held its 2024 Training Camp with three intra-squad games through Friday-Sunday. Stay tuned for a wrap-up of camp as the team continues to move towards the 2024-25 regular-season.
